Ed Mashburn, Master Piano Technician

Quality Tuning, Repairs & Restoration

Ed Mashburn has been a professional piano technician since 1985.  After studying at the University of Idaho, he studied piano technology under John Phillips, Master Piano Technician and completed a four-year apprenticeship.  He also received personalized training from Steinway Technicians and spent a short time at the Mason & Hamlin piano factory.  He participates in continuing education in conjunction with the Piano Technicians Guild. Ed has the technical skills of a piano technician but also a feel for entertainment.     He loves music and entertains with the piano whenever the opportunity arises.

His past role as concert piano technician at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall allowed him to raise his family in sunny Florida.  There he had the great pleasure to be of service to many renowned artists like Andre Watts, Yo-Yo Ma, Tony Bennett, Michael Feinstein and many more.

The piano restoration shop has been running since the early 90’s and private customers as well as institutions have had their piano restored by Mashburn.  The John and Mable Ringling Museum entrusted their Ca d’Zan treasure, a 1893 Steinway & Sons Grand piano, to his team.  It has been fully restored and is now a functional musical instrument at the Museum.

Community is equally important to him.   He has held board positions with the Rotary club and always seeks opportunity to share the gift of music with young aspiring musician.

Ed calls Bellingham home and with his wife embraces the coastal life of the beautiful Pacific Northwest.    They love the outdoors and are avid sailors, hikers and love spending time at the beach.
